Shipping, Duties & Tariffs and Related Policies
This policy explains how orders are shipped, how customs and duties are handled, and what to expect in the event of delivery issues or returns. Our goal is to be clear, fair, and transparent while protecting both our customers and our business.
1. Shipping Terms & Customs Clearance
Domestic Shipping: Componance Design is located in Vancouver, Canada and proudly ships worldwide. All shipping within North America is sent via ground shipping unless otherwise requested and arranged. Componance reserves the right to select the carrier and is not bound by the quoted service provider. Providers include but are not limited to FedEx, UPS, DHL, Purolator, Canada and US Postal Service.
Shipping to the United States: Orders shipped to the United States are sent Delivered Duty Paid (DDP). This means Componance arranges customs clearance and pays applicable duties and tariffs to U.S. Customs at the time of import. Any duties or tariffs shown on your invoice represent government charges already paid and are non-refundable. All international duties, tariffs, taxes, brokerage fees, and import charges are imposed by government authorities and are not set or controlled by Componance. These fees are not refundable, even if an order is refused or returned.
Returns must be approved in advance. The purchaser is responsible for all return shipping costs and any import fees incurred when goods are returned to Canada. Componance reserves the right to refuse a return if return costs exceed the refundable value of the order.
International Shipping: All international (outside of North America) orders are shipped Delivered At Place (DAP) unless otherwise agreed in writing prior to shipment. Unless specifically requested by the purchaser before shipment, all customs clearance is handled by the courier or customs broker selected at the time of shipping. The purchaser is the importer of record and is responsible for clearing the shipment through customs. Componance reserves the right to reject international returns.
· To receive your shipment, all import fees must be paid by the recipient.
· Some carriers invoice duties, taxes and tariffs separately – these are the responsibility of the purchaser
· It is the customer’s responsibility to pay all duties, taxes and tariffs promptly to avoid delays, disruptions or automatic returns
· Orders rejected, returned, cancelled due to unpaid import duties are subject to a 20% restocking/return fee
· Duties, taxes and tariffs are non-refundable regardless of receipt or return status; Componance is unable to process duty drawback claims
· Original shipping charges are non-refundable. If your order qualified for free shipping, the equivalent shipping cost will be deducted from any eligible refund
· If the original package is non-returnable or discarded by the carrier, no refund will be issued.
2. Duties, Tariffs, Taxes & Import Fees
All duties, tariffs, taxes, brokerage fees, and import charges are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. These charges are not included in the product price or shipping fee. We do not calculate, estimate, collect, or guarantee the accuracy of any customs, tariff, or import charges. We are not responsible for incorrect, unexpected, reassessed, or additional charges imposed by customs authorities or carriers. All duties, tariffs, taxes, and brokerage fees are non-refundable under all circumstances. Componance retains the right to reject returns that incur return import fees.
3. Shipping Fees & Delivery
Shipping fees are non-refundable once an order has shipped. Delivery times are estimates only and are not guaranteed. We are not responsible for delays caused by carriers, customs processing, natural events, or circumstances beyond our control. Any replacement shipment is at the discretion of Componance and is not to exceed the original shipping cost. In the case of an incorrect address in which the carrier charges an address update fee, this may be additionally billed to the customer or deducted from any future refund.
4. Lost or Stolen Shipments
We are not responsible for packages marked as delivered by the carrier. Any claims for lost or stolen shipments must be pursued by the purchaser directly with the carrier. Signature confirmation is optional and must be requested prior to shipment. Componance cannot be held liable for undeliverable parcels due to an incorrect address given by the purchaser or unmarked or inaccessible job sites. In the case of an incorrect address in which the carrier charges an address update fee, this may be additionally billed to the customer or deducted from any future refund.
Once an order is marked as delivered by the carrier, responsibility for the shipment transfers to the recipient. Componance Design is not responsible for packages that are lost or stolen after confirmed delivery, including deliveries left unattended at residences, condominiums, or apartment buildings.
If a package is reported missing after delivery confirmation, we’re happy to assist by:
- Providing delivery confirmation and carrier documentation
- Opening a carrier investigation where applicable
For added security, we recommend selecting delivery options and/or adding notes to your shipping address that include signature required, concierge delivery, and shipping to a secure address. Additional fees may be levied for signature options.
Damaged & Missing Items
5. Componance takes special care to ensure each order is packed with all parts, tools and instructions and each package is weighed to ensure accuracy. If an order arrives damaged or with missing items, the purchaser must notify us within 10 days of delivery, as determined by the carrier’s delivery confirmation. Photographs of the damage or missing items, along with all original packaging, must be retained and provided. Failure to properly document damage or missing items may result in denial of a claim, refund, or replacement. Refunds or replacements are issued at our discretion.
Please use the downloadable part chart to accurately describe the part or parts missing as well as the quantity.
Returns & Refunds
6. Product may be returned at the discretion of Componance for a refund for a period of 60 days from the confirmed delivery date determined by the carrier’s delivery confirmation.
